ENVIRONMENTALLY- FRIENDLY INGREDIENTS AND SOLIDARITY SOURCING
Aqua Posae Filiformis (APF) is a locally sourced raw material that uses 100% renewable energy wherein 100% of water used is treated and returned to its source.
La Roche-Posay is also committed to responsibility through solidarity sourcing creating its products. Solidarity sourcing is a practice that promotes inclusion by favouring responsible purchasing and fair-trade partnerships. It provides permanent access to work and income to people from underprivileged communities.
All shea butter for La Roche-Posay products is solidarity sourced in Burkina Faso, aiding over 16,400 women with fair trade practices, such as fair pricing, direct income and ongoing training for producers. The various stages of processing shea nuts can impact the environment. For example, boiling the nuts using traditional 3-stone cook stoves consumes about one ton of wood per year, per household. By offering women the option of using improved cook stoves, La Roche-Posay can reduce energy consumption by 50%. This improves their working conditions, saves on the amount of wood they use, and increases the energy efficiency of their activities to generate carbon gains. Through solidarity sourcing, La Roche-Posay combines its business with the sustainability of natural resources.
