Once lines 15, 16, 17 and 18 are in service, they will play an important role in creating a low-carbon metropolitan area, providing a robust public transport system with real alternatives to the car and limiting urban sprawl with a large supply of housing close to stations that meet the latest energy standards. Société du Grand Paris takes this environmental requirement into account on its worksites, where over 70% of CO2 emissions come from the use of concrete and steel. The company is deploying many innovative solutions on the new metro lines, including new generation concretes. In October 2021, the first voussoirs made of ultra-low-carbon concrete left the Stradal plant in Aubergenville (department 78). Designed by VINCI, in partnership with Ecocem, they will be installed on Line 18 near the Orly Airport station.
