Imaginer, au cœur de ce quartier historique pari- sien, un lieu contemporain, durable et sachant dialoguer avec l héritage haussmannien, a été pour l agence, un enjeu passionnant. Notre ambition a été avant tout de rendre hom- mage à nos prédécesseurs et de travailler des matériaux nobles. L utilisation du bois s est imposée comme une évidence dans le cadre d une construc- tion empreinte bas carbone. Maison Bayard est le premier immeuble bois du QCA parisien.

Maison Bayard a été imaginé comme un atelier de haute-couture. Le bois, la pierre et le métal couleur champagne, lui confèrent l élégance intemporelle des « grandes maisons ». Les jeux de diffusion de la lumière naturelle et la place omniprésente du végétal, sont sources d inspiration.

An exciting challenge for the agency has been to envision a sustainable contemporary building in harmony with the surrounding Haussmann architecture in the heart of this historic Paris district. First and foremost, our goal was to pay tribute to our predecessors and work with quality materials. The use of wood was an obvious choice in our pursuit of a low-carbon footprint construction. Maison Bayard is the first wooden building in Paris s central business district.

Maison Bayard was designed to resemble a haute couture workshop. The wood, stone and champagne-coloured metal lend it the timeless elegance of a grande maison. The way the natural light diffuses and the omni- presence of plants are sources of inspiration.
