Develop mindfulness practices. A growing body of research has shown mindfulness to reduce stress and anxiety, improve attention and memory, and promote both self-regulation and empathy. Work regular hours and take the breaks and holidays you re entitled to: it s important to take time off work. Learn to say no if you can t take on extra work or responsibility. Make sure you re able to explain why.
Make yourself aware of your company s work life programs and encourage employees to take advantage of these. Demonstrate that you value your employees personal responsibilities by including their important personal commitments in the team s planning calendar. Whenever possible, adjust the work calendar so that these dates don t conflict with team meetings. Foster flexible work practices that give employees more choice in how, when, and where they work. Flexibility helps people manage work and personal priorities and gives them a greater sense of control over their lives. That, in turn, reduces stress, builds resilience, and enhances both individual and team effectiveness.
