SUEZ collects and sorts 70% of plastic in the Netherlands
The joint venture set up by the Dutch company Nedvan and SUEZ is helping Holland to process its plastics, which have been collected from households in significantly higher volumes since 2008.
Every year, almost 70%, or about 75,000 tonnes, of the plastic in Holland is sorted by SUEZ, avoiding 90,000 tCO2e of emissions.
The sorting centre in Rotterdam alone can sort about 30,000 tonnes per year.
Using recycled plastics cuts energy
consumption by 80% to 90% compared with the production of virgin plastic.
